Sunday Reflection!
This past week I learned a lot more about the process of rigging sails and preparing the sails to be used this summer. I spent a lot of time climbing and going aloft which was really fun but also challenging. This is because when you're aloft and new at going aloft you're getting your direction when you're up there. Although I enjoyed this part of my senior project it was also slightly scary because there is a risk of being so high up and also doing a job. But it was definitely a good experience and I'm glad that I got to learn with a supportive crew. I think doing this type of work has given me a good starting point if I were to return to OHP (wink, wink). This past week everything ran really smoothly and transitioning off the boat was sad but I think being on campus for my last two days of senior project will be fun and will help me focus on what I need to get done for Express Fest. I also did a lot more photography this week which I was happy about and I edited a lot of photos. I captured more photos of the crew working and more photos of the engine room which were a part of my goals. This helped me achieve my goal of capturing all the photography on the boat that I wanted to and it also will benefit me when I have to run my slideshow at Express Fest.
Another benefit of this past week was that I finished my hours on Wednesday. On Wednesday my total hours were 77.5 and I was really happy about this. Working on a boat it's pretty easy to get a lot of hours in since there's so much to do and I think that completing that early will benefit me these next two days as I finish up my blogs and my final paper. I also got to organize items that I wanted for my table at Express Fest before I left the boat. Although this is a small task I think it will also benefit me this week because it's something I now don't have to worry about preparing since it's already put together. Overall I think I accomplished a lot this week whether it was helping with maintenance projects, going aloft, or educational programs. I think that my last full week was a success and my last 2 days will now be easier.
